You hear the term ‘size matters’ when it comes to homes, and that can go either way. We’ve talked about Tiny Homes, we’ve talked about the need for giant homes – depending on the size of the family, future planning needs and many other things. There is no wrong answer, but there is always a solution if you work with a team like the Australian Heritage Homes team. We don’t work as an ‘off-the-shelf” solution type of company, we know – and will always share so, that our solutions are just as customized as you. And they always, always will be.
Okay, so big house or small house? What should you choose? And what are the ins and outs of either? Stick with us and we’ll help you out.
Small houses
We referenced Tiny Homes, but in general, there are a lot of wins to living in smaller homes. You’re going to be paying less in some ways for efficiencies like gas, water, and cleaning; you may be also making trade-offs if you’re embracing a lifestyle that moves around frequently and relies on costs like gas – which can add up – especially if you’re travelling on a regular basis, the main benefit of owning a tiny home. There are differences when it comes to homes that are built or are being built on smaller tracts of land. You’re going to be cosier, there’s less landscaping to worry about, and with the proper recommendations, and depending on the location around us, the energy costs and your carbon footprint will go right back down.
Large houses
You can think of them as McMansions, but the truth is that if you refer to a large home, you could be talking about all sorts of shapes and sizes of a house. We work with customers of all varieties and especially with larger homes, they’re thinking about the size of their household. They might not even have any kids right now but could be planning for a multitude in the future and are leaving their options open. One item of note here – that doesn’t mean that the home they’re building needs to be especially large now, but it means there’s the option on the plot of land in the future. The considerations here as far as cons go are obvious – you’re spending a lot more on everything since you’re dealing with much more space. The pros are that you get to be creative about the ways that you’re using the space, both now and in the future. A gym can turn into a nursery and a nursery can turn into a gym. Remember that space design is always fluid and the AHH team can help you navigate that journey at any moment in time.
